Created by YouTube creator Zach Handel and animator Michael Cusack, Smiling Friends brings its tongue-in-cheek, sometimes creepy sense of humor to Adult Swim and Max, and follows a business with a mission to bring happiness to people by any means necessary.
Season 1 premiered back in 2022 and later made its way to Max (HBO Max at the time). Season 2 made its surprise debut in April 2024, a little over two years after its official announcement.

New release information for Smiling Friends Season 2, Episode 2 has been revealed following the debut of its season premiere.
According to a press release from Warner Bros. Discovery's hit Adult Swim series returns on Sunday, May 12 with the second episode of Season 2.

At the time of writing, it is unclear if the rest of the Season 2 episodes will fall on these dates; however, it is highly likely.
All of Season 1 aired/was released on the same day in 2022. As the press release from Warner Bros. states that "new episodes" will begin airing on May 13, suggesting the release of more than one could be the first hint that the entire season ends on May 13:
"Starting May 13, new episodes of 'Smiling Friends' will be available to stream.
It has also not been revealed how many episodes Season 2 will consist of, although the Entertainment Identifier Resigstry (EIDR) listing for the series has Season 2 marked at a total of 17 episodes.
It wouldn't be surprising if only some of these new episodes were released on May 13, with other episodes being dropped at a later date.
What to expect in Smiling Friends Season 2?
Despite fans having now seen the first episode of Simling Friends Season 2, it remains uncertain what to expect in this next batch of episodes; however, that's part of the show's charm.
Smiling Friends Season 1, while featuring the same characters and a fairly cohesive storyline, varied significantly from episode to episode.

The second season kicked off with a new animation style for the series, which debuted on April Fool's Day as a stop-motion puppet adventure.
As revealed at the 2023 New York Comic-Con panel (via Toonhive ), Season 2 will feature "various animation styles," including "2D, 3D, stop motion, and live action:"
"The second season of 'Smiling Friends' will feature a variety of animation styles, including 2D, 3D, stop motion and live-action content."
This means that as fans continue to follow Pim Pimling, Charlie Dompler and friends as they help bring happiness to the world, each new episode (when it eventually comes out) will look different from the last.
